The Department of Civic & Community Engagement is responsible for providing and promoting students with community service opportunities on campus and within the Albany community. This includes creating events, collaborations, establishing connections, and assisting organizations in finding service opportunities.
Tahj Arnold, a student at the University at Albany majoring in Political Science with a focus on Political Economy & Development, has a rich background of overcoming adversity and fostering community. Immigrating from Jamaica with his family for a better future, Tahj has made the most of the opportunities in the United States, thanks to his parents' sacrifices. At university, he not only excels academically, fueled by his interest in global economic intricacies but also thrives as a peer tutor, building lasting relationships and aiding fellow students.
His passion for community engagement, evident since high school through organizing inclusive events, has seamlessly transitioned into his role as the Director of Civic & Community Engagement for the UAlbany Student Association. Here, Tahj continues to harness his drive for connecting people and enacting positive change, embodying the spirit of community and resilience instilled in him from a young age.
